We were very excited to be photographing Katie and Chris’s wedding at Dissington Hall last August, we had heard lots of lovely things about this impressive wedding venue which is situated on the banks of the River Pont, only 9 miles from the Centre of Newcastle but which is also very much hidden away on the edge of Northumbria. The Hall is steeped in history dating back to the late 1700’s, the property itself was improved upon in 1820 with the addition of the Tuscan Porch and more recently has undergone further restoration since being bought by the current owners in 1968.
Katie & Chris had instantly fallen in love with Dissington Hall, it was the perfect venue for them to bring their friends and family to, and the Pastor from their church in Durham was invited to come along and lead the ceremony making it a very personal event. Katie looked beautiful in her strapless wedding gown and her very long flowing veil, she was accompanied by her bridesmaids in dusky blue. The ceremony was a very joyful event with lots of singing and encouragement for the newlyweds. As many of their guests had travelled a long way to the wedding and not everyone knew each other, the couple wanted to make sure that there were lots of icebreakers. Guests could join in the fun in the fabulous grounds on space hoppers, playing lawn croquet or even just looking on in amusement. The wedding breakfast was served in the marquee and was a very informal meal followed by a very energetic ceilidh, helping the guests to once more mingle and get to know each other a little better. The wedding couple made an early evening exit for their honeymoon and were cheered and waved on their way by all their family and friends.
