Swinton Park Wedding
Michelle & Chris 3rd September 2015
A Swinton Park wedding had to be the perfect choice for born and bred Yorkshire girl Michelle and her Canadian finance Chris. It’s such a gorgeous venue and what could be better than to bring your Canadian family and friends to than an English castle location to celebrate your marriage.
This luxury castle hotel in the Yorkshire Dales, with fine dining and extensive grounds has been owned by the Cunliffe-Lister family since the 1880s, and the ancestral seat of the Earl of Swinton, where guests at the hotel enjoy an authentic stately home experience. Rooms are furnished with antiques and family portraits, with the warmth and grandeur of a traditional English house. There is a certain sense throughout the castle of it being more of a lavish home than a hotel, with individually designed bedrooms, each with generously sized bathrooms and exceptional views. Needless to say, the standards of service are excellent – discreet but far from stuffy. It is always a pleasure to photograph at this gorgeous venue.
Michelle and the girls had a chilled morning preparing for the day ahead, they enjoyed a light family lunch together and exchanged gifts while the guys ventured a little further afield on the Swinton Park Estate to partake in a spot of clay pigeon shooting.
The stunningly airy ceremony room was the perfect setting for the wedding. The bridesmaids and ushers supported Chris and Michelle throughout the ceremony by standing alongside them in front of their guests. Despite a little rain the Canadian guests were game to join the hardy Yorkshire contingent to venture outside for a few photos.
The meal and speeches took on a Canadian twist and kicked off with all the Bridal Party dancing into the Wedding Breakfast. Master of Ceremonies Max assisted by resident Toast Master Eric oversaw the proceedings and made sure everyone was amused and also that everything ran smoothly. To top off a wonderful day and set the tone of the dancing Chris and Michelle entertained their guests with a beautifully executed first dance.
We would like to congratulate Chris and Michelle on the birth of new addition Jack, hope to see you all when you are next in Yorkshire.
