Rockliffe Hall Summer Wedding – Michael & Lucy

Rockliffe Hall Summer Wedding – Michael & Lucy

We first photographed Michael and Lucy for their Pre Wedding Shoot in Northumberland where it was very evident how great they were together and how much they made each other laugh. Stan is a keen football fan and I come from a family that has always had a keen interest in football so we were really looking forward to hearing about their world, how they met and all about their wedding plans. Michael is a high profile Premiership and International  Referee and Lucy is herself a high flyer in the Ladies Footballing world, working both as an ambassador for the sport as well as refereeing. Coming from a world were their lives are often under the microscope, they were very determined that their wedding day was to be an intimate occasion.  They wanted to celebrate their marriage with their family and very close friends and Rockliffe Hall was the perfect setting to do just that.

The girls preparations were taking place in the beautiful Old Hall where when I arrived the Hair and make up stylists from ND Hair were already hard at work. Lucy and bridesmaid Gina were excited to show me the dresses, Lucy’s was designed by Mori Lee and supplied by Kathryn Trueman, Lucy’s gorgeous Chritian Louboutin stilettos and the lovely little gifts that Michael had arranged to be delivered to Lucy’s room at regular intervals. At this point Katie from Flowers by Nattrasses arrived with beautiful bouquets of pink roses for the girls before heading over to deliver the buttonholes to the guys getting ready in Woodland Mews.

When Stan joined Michael and the boys, Michael was just putting the finishing touches his speech. Once they were all dressed  in their Ted Baker morning suits the guys wandered over to The Orangerie ready to chat to Anthony the registrar from Darlington Registry office, who was to lead the marriage ceremony, they then greeted guests as they were arriving. Michael who was suffering from pre match nerves (which was a new phenomena for him as he is usually very calm and collected prior to big games) was relieved to hear that Lucy was on her way.  The marriage ceremony was an emotional roller coaster with plenty of tears, lots of giggles from Lucy and just before walking down the aisle a celebratory wave of the bouquet!

Folowing the ceremony the sun had just appeared after rather a damp morning so the guests were able to chill and enjoy the drinks reception on the terraces at Rockliffe. A really relaxed hour or so followed where everyone had chance to chat to the new Mr& Mrs Oliver,  just as Michael and Lucy wanted it to be. Master of Ceremonies, Robert then directed the newly weds and their wedding guests over to the Rockliffe Suite for the Wedding Breakfast. The usual three speeches were given by Lucy’s father, followed by Michael (Who took the opportunity to thank Colin, Graham and the Rockliffe team for looking after them all day and also to Rockliffe’s Wedding Co-ordinator Becci, who had been invaluable in the lead up to their Wedding Day) and then Best Man, who manage to give a way just enough of Michael’s previous antics.

The party continued into the evening  with the cake cut. (The stunning six tier wedding cake was supplied by The Little Elephant Cake Company). After the first dance, guests joined Michael and Lucy with Music from the fabulous wedding band Chameleon. The couple honeymooned in Mauritius
